How do I get accepted into the Aphasia Institute Program?
It's simple. You can complete the Aphasia Institute Application and email it to us at: aphasia@vegasvoiceinstitute.com or fill it out and mail it to: 105 N. Pecos Rd. Suite #116 Henderson, NV 89074.
What are the criteria for enrolling in the program?
Patients must have aphasia and/or apraxia. You should be medically stable and as physically independent as possible. You must be able to follow your individual schedule and must be accompanied by a caregiver. It is of importance that you have the ability to endure an intense program of 23 hours of therapy a week and the financial means to cover program costs.
What is the Aphasia Institute Program like?
It is a 6 week treatment program with individual and group therapy sessions performed by a speech-language pathologist.
Who leads this program?
You will be working with licensed speech-language pathologists who have specialized training in the area of neurological speech impairments.
I had a stroke several years or months ago, can I still benefit from speech therapy?
Yes, there is potential to continue to make gains throughout your life. Research literature has greatly correlated increased recovery rates for those who are in the first year following their stroke however we have seen many patients post 1 year benefit greatly from this program.
Will I be cured of aphasia?
No, this is not a "cure" for aphasia. At this time, there is no complete cure for aphasia. However, we can help you by providing more treatment within a shorter time period. This has been shown time and again through research to provide more effective results than traditional treatment schedules. There are even some skills that have been shown to improve with intensive treatment that have not improved with traditional treatment. So, instead of spending money to receive 2 hours of treatment a week for 2 years, we provide this amount of treatment in 6 weeks. We provide you with an intensive program in a short period of time.
Is there a cost for the program?
Yes, there is a fee for this program. If you are selected to attend here at Vegas Voice Institute you will be extended an invitation.
